Final Unit Q & A

Several our classmates asked questions on the final unit.  These questions and responses may help you to prepare your final unit.

Q: It says that a lesson plan is required with activities. Does that mean only one lesson plan with an activity for each lesson.

A: One activity for one lesson is workable.  It depends on the type of activity.

Q: Can I select any instructional content for my unit or required to integrate the arts?

A: Yes. WBI content is referred to your web-based unit content/topics that you intend to instruct.  For example, you may select Fractions for 5th grade math as your unit content/topics.  Under your content/topics, we can break it into sub-topics, such as: Least Common Denominator, Simplifying Fractions, Equivalent Fractions, Comparing Fractions, Rounding Fractions etc.

Q: Are we allowed to change anything when it comes to our Signature assignment?  Can I use a different wiki source or change the tags if they end up not working or fitting in with the final design or do we have to use everything just as we turned it in for our discussion board answers?

A: You can use different wiki.  We are not constrained to the ones we shared in the discussion board.  Our designs are working ones and are dynamic.

Q: Does the assignment call for one lesson or a unit of lessons?

A: It is a unit that is equivalent to three lessons.

Q: Are we creating a website?

A: Yes.  You need to create an "online interactive instructional" website that contains various required web pages to engage your learners in active and interactive learning.

Q: What exactly are we suppose to do?

A: Our goals are: "Using the research and ideas you gathered and documented in your WBI Unit from earlier assignments, module discussions, and reading, it is now time to develop a WBI Unit. The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate that you are able to effectively use interactive online technology to communicate and collaborate with students, peers, parents, and/or the larger community in order to nurture student learning."  Remember, your unit should engage your students in active and interactive online learning, not just static information delivery.

School Computing Policy

Question: Assignment 2, question 12. School's computing policies. I don't have teaching experiences or any school affiliation yet, what should I do?  Answer: We can select any school's or school district's computing policy. If you know which school you may be teaching it, its policy could be a good one. Or you can just select the one from your local schools.  Generally, schools or school districts should publish their policy on the website. For example, here is the one from the Kyrene school district. https://www.kyrene.org/Page/21478
