During the progress of our course, you should have a better understanding and will develop better skills to “personalize,” “manage,” and “organize” multiple leaning tools. In PLE, the process of self-directed learning requires a degree of self-awareness. Many of us may have never taken the time to think about our own meta-cognition or to reflect on how we learn best. We need to make sure we are ready for the responsibility that comes with building and managing a PLE. I encourage you to apply your PLE platforms to manage various Web 2.0 tool to maintain your people networks, tool/technology networks, and learning resource networks so you do not need to visit all Web 2.0 tools to know what are happening in each tool and network.
Remember your PLE is not just about Netvibes, Symabloo, Mobile Apps, or Google Chrome. It can be any tool you prefer. In fact, we have several students use RSS aggregator or Outlook as their PLE. As long as it works for you, you can use can PLE tool you prefer. Just remember PLE doesn’t equal to Netvibes, Symbaloo, mobile apps, or Google Chrome.
Kaizena Multimedia Feedback
I used Kaizena, a Google Add-On, to provide some feedback for Assignment 1. This is another example of the integration with PLE and ONLE. Let me know what you think. PLE as a tool, a concept, or a skill/knowledge?
Learning about PLE is more than just using it or not nor like/dislike it. It is the point to understand how human and technology shape each other in learning context. It is the matter how wide the learning with technology can be. In fact, PLE is a tool, a concept, and a skill/knowledge. Many integrate it to support your formal learning while some use less. This is your decision. Remember! It is "Personal" Learning Environment. So whatever makes sense to you that is the most valuable to your learning.
Understanding Open Network Learning Environment (ONLE) & PLE
Open Network Learning Environment (ONLE) and PLE are a post-modern learning paradigm. Currently, the educators and researchers are trying to understand how the may shape the learning and how educators can shape it to enhance learning. The key point is to focus "personal," "personalizing" or "managing" PLE.
Not Justified
I noticed some of us did not justify our Assignment 1 well. Remember, as a graduate student, we should demonstrate our critical thinking skills and knowledge by applying relevant information to justify our arguments rather than just saying we did.
Mobile Learning
Several of us indicated we did not use mobile technology to support our PLE. Remember as a educational technology leader, we should have knowledge to analyze any learning technology and instructions. It is ok that we don’t use mobile technology personally for various reasons but we should have visions and knowledge about the potentials for mobile learning to meet diversify learners.
Below are a few tips for you to advance your PLE.
PLE
· Setup it as your home page/screen so you can have an overview on our class activities when access your computer or mobile devices.
· Use multiple tabs/Screens/Pages to organize your gadgets.
· If you don’t use, manage, and organize your PLE, you may feel overwhelmed by the multiple tools, and networks.
Twitter
· All course announcements are made via Course Twitter.
· If you have smart phones or mobile devices, by following ETC545, you can get updated on the course with Twitter.
· Seeking supports from the classmates. Include the course hashtag #ETC545 in your tweets. We have a few students are tweeting actively about the class. Don’t miss them!
· You can subscribe the Twitter search on #ETC545 RSS feed to get updated on your Google Reader
