LEADERS Cohort begins in January 2019 and ends by May 2023. Courses are on-line in spring and fall semester and in person in summer. A mandatory in-person seminar of approximately one week in length funded by the grant is held in Flagstaff each spring and fall. Comprehensive exams and a dissertation of each scholar's research related to CLDE students are required to complete the doctorate.

The LEADERS grant provides funding for tuition, books, travel to campus in summer, and summer campus housing.
