ETC545: End of Course Notes

(same message sent to NAU/BBLearn E-mail & BBLearn Discussion Board)

Dear ETC545 Students,

Remember, all course requirements must be completed by midnight, Friday, 07/02/2019.

Here is a quick list for your reference.

  • Module 4 discussions
  • Signature Assignment: Assignment 4: Development of Web-Based Unit
    • Post your final unit URL to BBLearn discussion area AND
    • Submit the URL to BBLearn Assignment Submission area.
  • A few students communicated with me on the final WBI unit. Here is some feedback for you to advance your final unit.
    • Home page: It would be wonderful if we have an announcement section, like what we have in ETC545.
    • Discussion Board Instructions: It is important that we provide clearer instructions what to do, besides the discussion topic, what are the expectations? Grading criteria or rubric? How frequently students should participate? how about the quality of postings? Just respond to the question or they need to read and to respond to others'?  Be sure to include these critical instructions.  Such instructions are critical to all instructional activities so your students know what to expect.
    • Parent Page: What are the activities?  Be sure to include all your activities and instructions.
    • Resource page: Consider to have a short description for each resource so the audiences know what it is before they click it. In addition, consider to use a meaningful title rather than a URL since URL is not pleasing.  Often, they are meaningless.
    • Instructor page: Have your own blog other equivalent page that shows your communication channel. Post some sample information.
    • Overall: For WBI, generally, we need to have everything ready for the targeted audiences when the instructions start. Just think about ETC545 instructions.  They were all ready for you when it started in the beginning.  It is very difficult to communicate if the instructions were not ready for the audiences.
  • If you have participated the course evaluation, haven't received the bonus point, please request to "Send Proof."  The course evaluation will be closed on 07/01/19, midnight, Monday.  We reached to 80% of response rate. Thanks for those who took time to participate.

As usual, please feel free to contact me either via my NAU e-mail at chih.tu@nau.edu (preferred) or BBLearn E-mail.

Regards,

Chih

School Computing Policy

Question: Assignment 2, question 12. School's computing policies. I don't have teaching experiences or any school affiliation yet, what should I do?  Answer: We can select any school's or school district's computing policy. If you know which school you may be teaching it, its policy could be a good one. Or you can just select the one from your local schools.  Generally, schools or school districts should publish their policy on the website. For example, here is the one from the Kyrene school district. https://www.kyrene.org/Page/21478
