ETC545: Module 2 Instructor’s Notes #1

Congratulations on finishing our Module 1 instructions and requirements.  You may notice that our class covers a wide range of Internet technology integration for teaching and learning.  Below are a few of my observations and reflections on our first week instructions to help you to advance your online learning experiences.

Module 2 Highlight (6/8-14)

06/11, Thursday

  • Due: 1st posting period for Module 2 discussions: Respond to the KEY discussion question

06/14, Sunday:

  • 2nd posting period for Module 1 discussions: THREE or more postings: Comment & respond at least THREE students' initial postings. Total FOUR postings at least for this module.
  • Assignment 2: Online technology evaluation
  • Assignment 4: Final Project: Online learning unit
    • Complete Section 6

Module Discussions

  • More postings: More than minimum postings are highly encouraged.  Do not hesitate to ask our classmates questions and comment on their postings.
  • 2nd Posting Period (2nd week of Module): Use our readings to guide your responses to the classmates. For example, in Module 2, we learn how to evaluate LMS and network technologies. Apply the evaluation criteria to guide your postings.
  • Don't forget to respond to the questions or comments made on our postings.  Module discussion is a great way to gather your resources for your final unit and assignments.
  • Subject Field: Give the subject field a meaningful title to solicit feedback. You can edit the subject and posting after you posted it.

o   Example:

    • Flipgrid, Seesaw, VoiceThread for mobile learning
    • Personal Learning Environment: Symbaloo

Assignment 1: Framework

  • Kaizena's multimedia feedback:  I use Kaizena, a Google Doc's Add-on tool, to provide some multimedia feedback.  Take a close look at this tool.  It is an useful for providing interactive feedback.
  • Respond to Feedback: You can reply to my comments to continue our conversations on certain comments. So, it is more like a collaborative conversation/feedback/comments.  It makes our online interaction more dynamic.
  • Be more thorough: on our assignments.  Justify our arguments on the selected sub-frameworks. It is always helpful to provide design examples etc.

School Computing Policy

Question: Assignment 2, question 12. School's computing policies. I don't have teaching experiences or any school affiliation yet, what should I do?  Answer: We can select any school's or school district's computing policy. If you know which school you may be teaching it, its policy could be a good one. Or you can just select the one from your local schools.  Generally, schools or school districts should publish their policy on the website. For example, here is the one from the Kyrene school district. https://www.kyrene.org/Page/21478
