BBLearn Collaborate Ultra

We will continue to host optional real-time meetings on Ultra to support your learning throughout the class.

Framework

For the Framework, it is related to our Module readings. More specifically the framework is from Ally's and Dron's readings.

While conducting the readings, we should understand each sub-framework and ask ourselves which one may help us to address the challenges that we identified in the Module 1 discussions and Assignment 1. You can use multiple sub-framework to address each challenge. When we move to Module 2, we can use the aligned sub-frameworks to guide us to evaluate and select delivery technologies.

In Module 3, we will use frameworks to select our "instructional strategies."

Sub-frameworks:

Ally's: Learner Preparation, Learner Activity, Learner Interaction, & Learner Transfer

Dron's:

  • 5 Common features: Five common features: Multiple Perspectives and Engagement that, Includes Dialogue, Learning in Authentic Contexts, Inquiry and Problem-Solving, Learning is, Open Ended and Ill-Structured, Cooperative and Collaborative Learning
  • Cognitive presence, teaching presence & social presences

Three Challenges: Don't have teaching experiences yet

We can approach this task a few alternatives.

Optional A

Come up with three theoretical challenges.

Optional B

If you know any teachers who recently taught remotely, what challenges do they face around this time? You can interview them.

If you know any teacher who taught remotely, it would be the best. Your final unit design can surround his/her unit. After completing your design, you can share your unit with him/her. Therefore, you have real-world design experiences.

Optional C

You can conduct a search to see what challenges teachers faced in spring 2020.  You can identify three that you think are relevant to your interests.

If you know any teacher who taught remotely, it would be best. Your final unit design can surround his/her unit. After completing your design, you can share your unit with him/her. Therefore, you have more real-world design experiences.

Do I need to come up different challenges for Assignment 1?

No. Use the ones that you identified in the M1 discussions. This is the purpose of our instructional design.  It is more streamline to our learning. You are not required nor limited to the one posted in the M1 discussions. You can update or change them to reflect your needs and design as you develop your unit.

Are all badges optional?

Yes. You do not need to complete them in each lesson. It is an enriching activity that you can complete any of them during the class. We have heavy course work in M1. Feel free to earn the badges wherever you prefer.

School Computing Policy

Question: Assignment 2, question 12. School's computing policies. I don't have teaching experiences or any school affiliation yet, what should I do?  Answer: We can select any school's or school district's computing policy. If you know which school you may be teaching it, its policy could be a good one. Or you can just select the one from your local schools.  Generally, schools or school districts should publish their policy on the website. For example, here is the one from the Kyrene school district. https://www.kyrene.org/Page/21478
